Hotel Price is Sky High in Moscow…

Finding budget accommodation in Moscow is a real challenge as the city tops the rating of European capitals with the most expensive hotel rooms.

­The average cost for a room in Moscow hotel grew 8.5% to $248 comparing to 2010, according to the data prepared by Hotels.info. The city has almost 250 hotels with 37,500 rooms with the 3-star rooms making up 42% of the market. Even though they can’t qualify as budget since the average price of those rooms is more than $200 per day.

According to the leading construction companies in Moscow, the city lacks some 30,000 to 40,000 cheap hotel rooms. Moscow authorities plan to attract private investors to tackle the issue.

Meanwhile travellers in other European capitals also face difficulties in trying to find cheap bed-in-breakfast in these cities. Oslo in Norway took second place in the list as the average cost for a room was up almost 6% to $225. London took third place, followed by Stockholm and Kiev, while Copenhagen, Paris, Helsinki and Amsterdam round out the top ten.

As for the rest of the world, New York tops the list as the most expensive destinations with its $275 per room.
